Mini update and a few pics

Got the annual birthday picture taken!  Lily had her 4 year check up this past Friday.  She came in at 40 1/4 inches tall and 48 pounds.  A little on the heavy side and too short for Disney in 60 days!  We need her to be 42 inches.  I am praying and hoping for a major growth spurt!!

Saturday we proved we are the coolest parents on the planet again.  HaHa.  Olivia came over to go to Rowan's soccer game at 1pm and then we picked up McKenzie around 5pm and made a big dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs then we all went to see Finding Nemo 3D, even McKenzie's brother Johnny joined us.  Me, Parker and 5 kids!  I love Nemo and in 3D it was pretty cool!

That led to a sleep over with both Olivia and McKenzie and a huge breakfast in the morning.  Parker and I felt like short order cooks!

Once everyone went back to their own houses we all settled down.  Parker and I watched football and the girls watched stuff on our iPads.  We got a bike rack for my van so we attached that as well.  The bike rack came in a huge box that we left in the living room while we were putting it on the van.  Lily found it and make a nest for herself.  She used it all night!

Blankets, pillow and the barbie box.  Love it.

Last but not least there is a new website out there called dog-shaming.com.  I look at it almost every day because it makes me laugh outloud and realize our dog is not the worst dog out there.  Until I submitted her picture.  We are just waiting for it to get posted now.

Isn't she great????!!!!!

Lily's 4th Birthday Party

Lily had her first friend birthday party this past Saturday.  We did not host a party for Rowan until she was 4 so we waited until then for Lily as well.  We chose to do the party at the Hatboro Y.  I invited all the kids in her class, 23 in total and of that 9 chose not to even respond one way or the other.  Nice, eh?  So frustrating.  This weekend marked the beginning of Rosh Hashanah as well so we got rejections based on the fact that it was a long weekend for some and they were going down the shore or what not.  We were expecting 7, we got 9 (Megan's brother Josh and one non responder) and it all turned out okay anyway.  The kids had a blast playing and running all over the gym and we had a nice Cinderella cake (picked by Lily of course) afterwards.

Joe and Diane came over early on Saturday morning to attend Rowan's second soccer game and to spend some time with Lily for her birthday because we had plans for the evening after the party.  They gave Lily some nice gifts including dolls of Tinkerbell and all her fairy friends but the biggest hit by far was the scooter. Lily had already told me she was going to ask Santa for a scooter so imagine the joy on her face seeing that she was getting a scooter way before then.  It was awesome.

The girls are currently at Joe and Diane's until tomorrow afternoon.  School is closed today and tomorrow for Rosh Hashanah so we had to send them up there for the few days.  I have to wake up tomorrow on Lily's actually birthday without my little boo being there so that will be tough.  We will see them when I get home from work though and then we will give her ours and my family's presents as well.  I can't wait to see both of them!

Saturday night we were invited to the Summers house for a good bye to summer movie night.  They have done movie nights all summer and we went to them all but this was the granddaddy of them all.  There must have been 50-60 people there (adults and kids) and Gary outdid himself with the screen by hanging a giant tarp on the side of the house.  It was a great time and we look forward to doing them again next summer!

Fire!

Yesterday I am innocently minding my own business outside taking the laundry off the line.  All I heard the entire time I am out there is siren after siren after siren. Some sounded far away and then they sounded closer and closer.  Turns out there was a double whammy in the neighbourhood.  First there was a car accident at County Line and Blair Mill and then there was a fire at the Dairy Queen. Oh no say it isn't so!  Sad but true.  I lament the loss of the DQ while Parker laments the loss of the drycleaners that was in the same strip mall and the 6 shirts he had there being cleaned.  Sighs.  Anyway, because curiosity got the better of me Rowan, Lily, Johnny, McKenzie and I headed out on a trek and walked up to the Acme to get a better view.  The fire was almost out when we got there but there was alot of activity and people were telling me the flames were pretty impressive at the beginning.  It seems as if the fire started in the laundromat in the same strip mall but no official cause has been given yet.

Fall Soccer 2012

Rowan returned to fall soccer this past week.  Lily opted to sit this season out.  In an ironic twist of fate Rowan's coach this year is the same coach Lily had but he moved up to the older bracket with his son.  We assured Coach Shane that Rowan had a little more drive in her for soccer than Lily did and she did not disappoint.  She even scored a goal in the first game but it didn't count because the whistle had already been blown.  Bummer!  This season we root for Ireland and number 10!

Annual Delaware River Tubing

So we made it.  We barely made it but we made.  We were down the Gages and Parker this year, but the Kembles, the Smiths and Rowan and I finally got on the river for our annual float.

We had already postponed once because of the forecasted weather only to have it turn out to have been a perfect day and we should have gone.  All other weekends someone was busy or away so that left us with this past Saturday.  The forecast was not good.  But we had been down that road before.  Gages did not want to chance it and Parker was staying home with Lily.  Kembles insisted they were going so the rest of us all went. And when I say we barely made it I mean it.  We got to the river around 1230 and decided to do a 2 hour run instead of the 4 hour one just so we could be ahead of the weather.  The float ended up taking 3 1/2 hours because the wind was blowing the wrong way making getting any headway difficult in some places.  We also decided this year to stop at the river hot dog guy which we had never done before and that took another half hour.  We got off the river finally at 350pm and at 400 the heavens opened in grand monsoon fashion.  Made it home safely though and showered and reassembled at the Kembles for pizza.  All in all, a good day actually and we all got sunburns - before the rains came of course!
