The Hall Adventures: Goodbye Summer....Hello Kindergarten....and Welcome to 40 Parker

First and foremost - Happy 40th Birthday to Parker today. Welcome to the club :) A whole new age category when you do a survey awaits you - the 40-49 category - *gasp*

Goodbye summer of 2010. Sure you are not technically over yet by the calendar but since today is Labour Day and tomorrow school starts you are all but done now. Thank you for a very warm, not too rainy and really fun summer full of lots of fun daytrips and lots of houseguests!

Friday was Rowan's last day at Kindercare. Last Day! I cried when I dropped her off and when I picked her up I was a little sad but not crying sad. We were given all her things and papers and artwork and what not. And now it is all here, waiting to be pushed aside by the same thing from Kindergarten.

Joe and Diane were over to celebrate Parker's birthday on Saturday. He and his Dad are going to take a trip to Cooperstown as the present for P's birthday. Cool eh? I hope they have a good time!

Sunday we caught up on chores. Parker took the kids to the park so I made the menu and grocery lists and got all the shopping done. I treated to crab legs and corn on the cob for dinner. Yum. Even Rowan ate and liked the crab - this could be costly in the future! Then we went up the street to the annual neighbourhood Labour Day Block Party. We hung out for a bit talked to lots of people, met the new people in the neighbourhood, dance a little, sang with the band a little and moved on.

The pool closed for the season today so we had to get one more day in! I took the girls including McKenzie and we stayed for a few hours, long enough to say goodbye for the summer and catch a few more rays of sun. Water was cold though and the sun is not as warm anymore so the season is definitely over.

Big day in the life of one Rowan Hall tomorrow - she officially begins Kindergarten!!! I cannot believe this day is here. I packed her lunch already, her clothes are laid out and she went to bed just after 8pm so a good nights sleep is on its way to her but wow....I swear she was just born! I am hoping that if I do cry tomorrow, and who are we kidding that I won't, I just don't cry so much that I embarrass her. Taking her to the portrait studio to get first day of school pictures taken - that was pretty embarrassing but I did it anyway!
