Two down, Eighteen to go

I picked Rowan up from school on Friday afternoon thinking it was a normal day.  Until she handed me an envelope that contained her second lost tooth!  She had lost it while eating her morning snack that morning :)  So that's two teeth out, eighteen to go!  I thought she was going to go for it and leave her tooth in the box on her room but at the last minute she switched and left it in the dining room again - tooth fairy still came though and left her $1.

Lily's 2nd Birthday

I cannot believe Lily is two years old already!  Our baby girl is growing up so quickly it seems.  She remains a chatty, happy, usually always smiling little girl.  She is learning the fine art of the tantrum and saying "NO" but we have learned through Rowan to ignore that kind of behaviour and eventually she stops doing the wrong thing with no intervention from us - most times.  Saturday was her actual birthdate but Rowan and Lily had been invited to Jack Barbor's birthday party and Rowan really wanted to go so we pushed Lily's celebration to Sunday.  Joe and Diane came over for spaghetti and meatballs and birthday cake!

Quick Updates and Kids Castle Adventure

So couple of quick updates...

(1) Rowan has made it through her first week of kindergarten and so far things are good.  We are working on learning the 6 day schedule that Crooked Billet works on and making sure we have the right things for the right days, like sneakers on gym day, smocks on art day etc.  Tomorrow she can start buying lunch if she likes - whoohoo - not sure she will buy every day but maybe a couple of times a week anyway.  The pressure to make lunch was overwhelming to me, we have been spoiled by daycare who feeds the kids every day!

(2) A little Lily update - well first and foremost she turns 2 this coming Saturday - 2!  My little baby is already 2 years old....the time has flown by.  She is turning into quite the darling and quite the daring little girl.  She follows Rowan EVERYWHERE, idolizes her...wants to be her.  As a result she has matured (for lack of a better word) quite quickly.  She is speaking in full sentences now and does not let her mini size stop her from trying to do anything the bigger kids do.  She tries to climb on neighbour Ashley's bike all the time like she knows what she is doing!  Case in point - we took our girls and Johnny and McKenzie to the Kids Castle in Doylestown yesterday for about 4 hours - she kept up with them as best she could all day long!

So on to that.....football season starts today so Parker wants tired kids *haha*  However it is raining today so yesterday he thought he would try and get a start on tiring them out by going to Kids Castle and letting them run free.  He offered to take all the kids in the neighbourhood but it ended up just being our two and Johnny and McKenzie.  I went too to try to help with the corraling of children.  Well the kids had a blast - Parker and I had a blast too!  By the end of the day we had some pretty tired kids I think.  Now, do you think that will carry through until the 4:00 game today??

The FIRST Day

So it happened - today was Rowan's first day at Kindergarten.  All  4 of us got in the car this morning and took Lily to daycare first so Parker and I could take Rowan together.  We got to her school and went to the door we thought we were supposed to go to only to find it was locked!  We walked around to the front office and met the principal who called someone down to get us - only to learn we went to the wrong door!  How embarrassing!  Poor Rowan, just what she needs on her first day - two lost parents.  Anyway, we learned where to drop her off and no sooner had we gotten there then Ashley and Murphi showed up.  Later Johnny brought little Johnny and McKenzie and there were nothing but smiles all around - at least in the pictures I was sent anyway!

So I go work for a couple of hours, take the afternoon off and leave early to pick up Rowan so I can hear all about her first day.  I get to the after care program school and cannot figure out how to get in.  Luckily someone was coming out a locked door so I slipped in and looked around at all the kids where I thought Rowan would be and she was not there...mild panic set it until I recognized someone from one of the orientation meetings and she gave me some directions - the kids were outside playing - just like when I picked up from daycare except this time I did not know everyone but to find Rowan I had to look no further than Eniaya.  They meet up every afternoon in the program and will spend this year together.

I tried to get some information out of Rowan on the drive home and while we were at home.  She was not forthcoming with lots of information.  I did get that she sat beside McKenzie in class and calmed McKenzie down when she started to cry in class.  She sat on the bus with Olivia to get to the cares program and Jack is at her table there.  I guess that is a start - maybe tomorrow I will start to be told what she learned!
