The Mother of All Updates

Been awhile.  Been very busy, between school, activities, home, and gym time and worst of all, work, I have been pretty busy for the past month thus limiting my ability to get on here and post an update.  Have no fear, boss is away today so the update begins...and it's gonna be a long one - go get a cup of coffee then we'll begin.

The Thursday before Mother's Day (told you we were going back in time) Rowan's Brownie Troop went to her favourite place, the Doylestown Rock Gym.  It was an early trip so Lily got to go with us and tried her hand at it as well.  As always a fun time for everyone.

Friday the 17th was Field Day at Rowan's school.  Every year during art class they tie-dye shirts based on the team they are placed on and then spend Field Day doing outside activities and obstacles.  This year Rowan was Team Blue and for the first time her team won!  Not that they get anything but it does provide some bragging rights temporarily.  I was not able to make it but Parker took the afternoon so he could go watch Rowan at play.

That night Parker went to the movies with Gary so Mary and I took our kids and a couple of rentals (Kenzie and Brady) and went mini-golfing!  To say it was chaotic would be downplaying the hilarity that ensued.  There was no score keeping, no staying together as a group but most importantly no bloodshed.

The next day we did something the girls have never done and something Parker and I never thought we would get to do again either.  We went to the Drive-In movies!  How cool is that??  There is a place up past Allentown called Becky's Drive-In that the Kembles told us about.  They made the trek with us and it was a blast.  Made it through Iron Man 3 but only half way through Oz the Great and Powerful before all the kids were asleep and it started to drizzle.  Plus we had an hour and a half drive home!  It was so worth it though and we may make the trek again later in the summer.  Plus you can bring all your own food and it is way cheaper than the movie theaters!

Leading into the long Memorial Day weekend the Brownie Troop had another early outing this time to Sweet and Sassy for a makeover/manners class!  Lily got to go to this one again as well.

I took Friday afternoon off because Rowan had a half day but the weather for the long weekend was less than desireable for the first time in 3-4 years.  So much so that we did not get to the Hatboro Memorial Pool at all that weekend, a first!  The girls spent the night at Joe and Diane's because they were getting up early to partake in the Sellersville Memorial Day Parade with Joe the next morning.  Of course Parker and I went up to watch the whole thing.  It was a fun parade, some speeches afterwards a snack and we headed back home in the afternoon.

Sunday was the annual Memorial Day Potluck at the Kemble house.  Some separate food, some common food, good conversation, wine and friends.  The perfect way to spend a long weekend Sunday evening.

Monday of the long weekend we finally got some sunshine and warmer weather.  Off to the Hatboro Carnival we go!  Lily could not wait to get there.  And she had a blast.  A large group of us met at the same time but kids scattered with parents running after them resulting in a disjointed group outing but a fun one nonetheless.

Back to work on Tuesday for a short week.  Always easier to get through.  Thursday the 30th was the annual Crooked Billet Spring Concert held at the High School.  The past few years the kids all wear white shirts but this year each grade had a specific colour to wear and when they were all on stage they were a giant rainbow.  It was so great. Another great show.

Saturday June 1st - first trip to the Hatboro Pool - YAY!!  and first chance she got Rowan took the deep end test and passed with flying colours.  We set up camp in our usual spot and were joined by a few other families.  I love the pool, it is my summer home.

Monday Rowan had no homework from school - as the year is winding down she is bringing home less and less work and more and more clearing out of stuff!  I took her, Olivia, Lily and Kenzie to Mason's Mill Park to play - it was supposed to rain, in fact it did rain, but they had no cares or worries about it at all and in fact we had the park to ourselves.  It was actually awesome and everyone went home wet, tired and happy.

So that brings us up to date.  A few  more pics to post though.  First Rowan and Sierra doing a partner pose in family yoga.  They love to do this pose together every chance they get!

Finally, we raised butterflies again this year.  We had 4 caterpillars and ended up with 4 butterflies.  This year I took photos of each stage.  We released them about a week ago when it was nice and warm outside.

So that's it - see why we have been busy?  But it just keeps getting busy in the short run.  This weekend Rowan is participating the the School's Out Kids Triathalon so look for lots of pics from that.  That afternoon both kids have their final soccer games as well.  The following weekend I am doing my first 5K!  Tina and I are going to do the Run or Dye on 6/15 and I cannot wait.  Rowan is doing it with us as well so I don't know how much running I will get to do but I have gotten my time down to a personal best (so far) of 44:44 for 5K.  Then Sunday is both Rowan's 8th birthday and Father's Day so another busy day will ensue.

The last day of school for Rowan is 6/19 and then camp starts on 6/20.  Maybe by then we will have a little breathing room.

Hopefully I will be faster to update next time!
