Dancing, Daisies and Derby!

To say there is lots to update would be an understatement!

First up, the annual Crooked Billet Daddy/Daughter dance that Parker and Rowan attended on April 27.  Rowan was feeling a little off all day and they asked me to pick her up from school instead of letting her ride the bus home but after a nap of a few hours she awoke and was ready to go.  This year it was a luau theme and everyone got into the spirit of the evening and by all accounts a great time was had by all.

Sunday of the same weekend we took our Daisy troop bowling!  It was great fun, strikes were made, bets were lost and I think the parents had as much fun as the daisies!  Parker and Lily even came with us and Lily bowled with Parker - a great set up to our kids bowl free program we signed up for this summer.  I took a bunch of pics but they all turned out kind of dark so I will just share the group pics we took of the girls.

Before we get to the Derby Party let's throw a few miscellaneous things up.  May 1st marked the annual Crooked Billet Day, but for a day when it is never supposed to rain, it rained and we parents were not allowed to attend because ceremonies were held indoors and there was only enough room for staff and students!  So all I have from that day is this pic of Rowan we took in the morning before school.  I did watch the ceremony streaming live on the internet however so it was almost like I was there :)

Next up - we have started a butterfly project!  We got our netting and caterpillars and are awaiting the cocoon spinning so we can transfer them to the net and watch them turn into butterflies!  The caterpillars are probably 4 times they size they are in this picture so we must be getting close to cocoon time.

May 4 marked the annual dress like a rock star day at daycare for Lily.  We did not get as crazy as we did last year but we did bring back the pink hair!

Lily's school pictures came back finally as well -they turned out fantastic!  Deciding what to keep will not be easy!

And finally - our 3rd annual Kentucky Derby Party.  What a blast we had this year - the weather was much better than last year but not as good as the first year.  We catered again and had the largest turnout to date.  Everyone seemed to have a great time and there were the most kids we have ever had and they all kept each other busy which was wonderful.   We also set up a kids table this year and that kept everyone busy as well.  Couple of pics of the girls and our hats and then a couple of group pics so get a scope of how many people were there this year.

The evening ended around 9 which was great because it gave us enough time to get all cleaned up so we did not have to face it in the morning.  While we did that - three very tired little girls hung out of the couch.

So that's the update for now - Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner!
