A Party in the Park

You know when you plan an outdoor event you hope and pray it won't rain? Prayers answered. What I forgot to ask for was less than 90 degrees and 75% humidity. BUT everyone who said they were coming did so and I believe a good time was had by all. We had Rowan's friend party at a local park that has a covered pavillion with it so there was shade when needed and because it is an open field there was a decent breeze as well.

We hired a face painter who also twists balloon animals and she was a huge hit with the kids. Party was about 2-2 1/2 hours with plenty of snacks, boxes of pizzas and cake and cupcakes - and tons of bottled water and juice boxes!

And the most rousing version of Happy Birthday...ever.

Rowan turns 5!

Five years old! I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday and here she is suddenly 5 years old and getting ready to start school. What a terrific little lady she is becoming. She can be super girly and go with me to get her nails done and then turn around and rough and tumble outside like a maniac all on the same day. Her future is bright and I can't wait to see how it develops.
We got a nice little surprise on Tuesday night when my mom called to say she was driving down by herself the next day so she would be here for Rowan's birthday. She is staying until Sunday so she will be here for the birthday party on Saturday as well. I know Rowan is excited about her being here even though she was shy at first with Nana.

After school we got home to find Nana already safe and sound in our house and Mom Mom and Pop Pop came over and then per Rowan's request we went to Peace A Pizza for dinner. Rowan got to make her own pizza, the rest of us tried a variety of different slices, and Lily had more fun playing in the bus and watching TV than she did eating.

Then it was home for presents and cake! The best part of a birthday ;)

Our future Kindergartener

So last week was a big week for Rowan. On Tuesday she had Kindergarten orientation. We went to her future elementary school where we got a glimpse into the coming school year, a tour of the school and Rowan got to ride the school bus! Wednesday she had her Kindergarten assessment. I was only allowed to wait in the school library but from when she told me she had a hearing test (which she passed, thanks to those ear tubes), an eye test and she said she had to tie she shoes, which she just learned to do! I am still not sure if that last part was true or not but they told me they had no concerns for her and they were looking forward to her start in September!
Last Friday was Pre-School graduation at daycare. Rowan's class sang some songs, there were a few words from Ali the director and Miss Kathleen the teacher and then they all got diplomas. The kids all took turns standing up and saying their full names and saying what they wanted to be when they grow up. Rowan stood up and said "My name is Rowan Nola Hall and I want to be a cheerleader and an artist". It was so cute and I cried throughout the whole thing.

Hatboro Fair 2010

Well the Fair was in town again last week so we made our annual pilgrimmage on Thursday night. Angela and Enaiya met us there and Johnny and Makenzie met up with us later as well. The four of us went but Parker had to take Lily home after less than an hour because she would not stay in the stroller and she was too small to ride any rides on her own and it was pay one price wristband night and she did not get one. Sorry. Rowan showed her adventurous side going on lots of rides, including some pretty high in the air or fast ones. She had the time of her life.

And a few miscellaneous photes just for the heck of it.
