How silly do I sound saying that? HAHA. Still not a hockey fan but Parker is and he is thrilled that the Flyers are in the Stanley Cup starting tomorrow night. I had a hair appt last night and when I came home I was greeted by two of the cutest little hockey fans on the planet. They wore their new shirts to school today too. This coming weekend is the Memorial Day weekend. Whoo-Hoo - kick off to summer! I am picking up our pool passes this afternoon and then taking Rowan to the ENT for a follow up to her tube surgery. She is definitely hearing better now so hopefully her appt shows that as well.

Sprinkler Fun
Been a hot couple of days here leading up to the Memorial Day weekend so last night the sprinkler got brought out. Lily, Rowan, Murphi and Paige had a good time playing together. This was the first time Lily has been through a sprinkler. She seemed to love it, loved having an umbrella more to protect her little face from being in the direct line of the water too!

Gardening...done, and a sing along.
Last weekend was just beautiful and we took advantage of it and got all our planting done! Veggies got done and flowers got down out front! Rowan was a BIG help and was right there with us getting everything in the ground.
Last but not least Rowan has been learning "The Rainbow Connection" to sing at her Kindercare "graduation" in June...she and Parker (and Lily) like to practice together...it's darling..

Rowan gets tubes too
Rowan has been complaining for awhile now that she cannot hear. I finally did something about it when I noticed she was watching our lips when we spoke instead of actually hearing us. We went to the same ENT that Lily went to and after a couple of appts and non passing hearing tests Rowan had surgery yesterday and got her tubes put in. She handled it like a champ, no crying at all. Parker and I were very proud of her. She was not happy when she woke up at all, saying her ears hurt but by last night she was good as new and telling me could hear better already. Whoo-hoo!
Before surgery all excited to get tubes just like Lily did:
After sugery, not happy with us at all because she was out of it and in a little pain:

Karate Board Breaking
Well it happened last Saturday - instead of regular karate class - Rowan's group did board breaking. They did a practice board and then a stomp break and a palm break. She did both! Afterwards they went to the instructors and got them to sign their broken boards, it is tradition apparently. It was very cool and a specials thanks to Sam and Murphi who let us leave Lily with them so both Parker and I could go to class to watch Rowan.

Karate Update
Rowan is still in Karate and still loving it. She is up to three stripes on her belt and one she gets 5 she can test for the next belt color! This Saturday she will be doing board breaking! Board breaking!! Sam and Murphi are going to watch Lily for us so Parker and I can both go to her class that day. Until then here are a couple of pics and videos I took on Tuesday...from my new iPhone...whoo-hoo!

Kentucky Derby Party
So this past Saturday was Kentucky Derby day and the "run for the roses". For some reason we had a party. Well not for some reason, the idea got tossed out there and then next thing I know all the women in our neighbourhood are making Derby hats, men are looking for ascots to wear and everyone is planning what food to bring. We even made mint juleps....disgusting to be honest but at least we tried them! Kelly and Parker even went to the track on Friday night to place everyone's bet - none of us won but it was fun to do!
We lined our new retaining wall with racing horses. *haha*
The food spread was massive - this was before the grilling even came out!
Cake - that we had personalized
Melinda made cookies shaped like horses!
Al trying on Murphi's hat
My hat - the dollar store and a glue gun can do wonders!
The boys in their ascots - Kelly kept his on all day, Parker's did not survive a soaking by the kids outside
Parker made a horseshoe of roses for the winner but none of us won!
Lily in her little hat that she would not wear unless we are all wearing our hats
The kids gave up on their hats and headed for the cool of the hose, sprinkler and squirt crayons
The little girls in their hats
All the gorgeous ladies in their Derby hats.
