Mother's Day 2013

This past weekend was Mother's Day.  Such a nice weekend.  Joe and Diane came over on Saturday afternoon so we could celebrate with Diane that day.  It rained for a brief period in the afternoon, just enough for Jazz to make a mess of everything.

It was temporary though and did not "dampen" the day.  Rowan went to a birthday party that afternoon and was apparently pooped when she got home, Joe made a comfy spot for her to catch a catnap.

Sunday we woke up leisurely and I got to open this years selection of Dollar Store and homemade gifts.  They get better every year :)

That afternoon we went to Tyler State Park for a 5 (!) mile hike.  It was a beautiful day and at the end we were exhausted, exhillerated and covered in ticks. (blech)

Got rid of the ticks, all had showers, combed the dog out and then as a treat went to The Melting Pot for dinner so I did not have to cook.  Although, as it is a fondue restaurant I guess technically I did do the cooking after all!!

May 2013 so far...

Yep - posted that picture.  For no reason whatsoever.  Haha.

Throwing up one more pic from Crooked Billet Day that pretty much encompasses Rowan and made me smile...only she would sit here wearing a long skirt:

The first Friday of every month at Lily's daycare is a special dressup day - May is our favourite, because it is Rock Star Day....this years rock goddess went like this:

The next day was big for me, BIG, our neighbour Sam turned 40 this week on Monday - and 10 of us took her out for her birthday on Saturday night.  Courtesy of her business partner who gave us a stretch Hummer limo for an unlimited time and paid for dinner in the city at Barclay Prime!  Who does that?!?!?!?!?!  Who cares?  I got to take advantage of it too!  It was fantastic!  The bill made me choke but I didn't have to worry about it, whoo-hoo!  When the limo first got to our neighbourhood he was early so Parker and Johnny and the kids took a tour around the block before we did, they loved every second of it!

Told ya!

Last but not least some pics of the kids having fun, a walk in the park one day and a playdate for Lily round out the beginning of May.

This weekend - Mother's Day - mom if you read this, in typical Katrina fashion, my cards are late....again...sorry....

Crooked Billet Day 2013

Well after having to miss Crooked Billet Day last year because it rained this year saw a return of the beautiful weather so we could all go and enjoy it again.  I snuck out of work for an hour so I did not get to see the whole thing but I saw most of it.  Something about tradition and school pride just makes you feel so happy for your kids.

April 2013

I went a month without updating.  For shame.

April was pretty busy for us - the girls continued in their swimming lessons with Rowan moving up to the next level.  Both girls are playing soccer this spring as well.  Rowan's team is pretty good and they have even won a few games which is a nice change for us with our soccer history.  Lily is on Megan's team again and Megan's Dad Gary is their coach.  Their assistant coach?  None other than Parker!  Their first outing was disastrous but they have since tried to practice a couple of times and are not getting run over on the field anymore :)

April also brings the annual Daddy/Daughter Dance at Crooked Billet for Rowan and Parker.  This year's theme was the 1950s.  From what I heard a great time was had by all again.  The girls run around like crazies and the Dads all sit around talking and catching up and occasionally dancing with their babies.

Two things of note:  Rowan has been obsessed with YouTube lately and watching organizing videos by a woman name Alejandro.  All we hear about is "Alejandro says this, Alejandro says that"....the offshoot of this, she asked for a label maker - a label maker!  She's 7 and ready to tackle our house and organize it.  Lucky for her one day I was at BJ's and they had a label maker on sale for $20....you would have thought she won the lottery when she saw it.  Look how serious she and McKenzie look while using it!

And second - Rowan went to a birthday party last weekend at The Palace Roller Skating Rink.  Oh yeah...guess who's Mom was out there skating for an hour and a bit?  That's right!!  I was so sore on Monday I did not make it to the gym - not from falling but from using all my leg muscles to keep myself from falling!
