Hey - we are still around...

17 days between posts - a new record for me I think!

First of all how cool are these links? This one, http://www2.fi.edu/hawks/ , is downtown Philly at the Franklin Institutes where two red tailed hawks have nested. This one is in NJ, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/eagle-cam ,and is a bald eagle nest. I am fascinated by them and can't stop watching them. Believe me, the irony of me being fascinated by birds nests is lost on no one. Okay - moving on...

In the month long celebration that was my 40th birthday I got to celebrate for 3 weekends in a row. The day of my birthday I actually took Rowan to her friend Gianna's birthday party so that kind of halted any plans we would normally have made. Parker and the girls got me a gift certificate to QVC - normally I would find something on there I want almost every day - been 17 days since I had it and I still cannot find anything I want. The Horror. When we got home from the party just the four of us went to Bertucci's for dinner and home for cake. It was nice, simple celebrating with my favourite people - and I got a pretty cake to boot.

The following weekend I went out with my girls on Friday night which is always fun and got presents from them even - I was surprised to say the least. Saturday night JoAnn and Paul took Parker and I to the Brazilian Steakhouse Na'Brasa for dinner. 2 bottles of wine and $300 later it was the best dinner ever...and they paid - we have VERY good and generous friends to say the least. Sunday of that weekend was the QVC Beauty Bash - all together now...WHOO-HOO!! The best day ever if you are a girl!! I drove and Sam and Angela came with me this year - it was awesome - cost more this year than last but the format was easier this year, you just got a giant box of stuff as you left instead of lugging it all around and begging for free stuff from all the vendors - box was about 23lbs and worth around $1300! Jackpot!

This past weekend we finally got to celebrate with Joe and Diane and Aunt Karen came along for the fun as well. Joe and Diane treated us out to dinner at Georgine's - it was nice, Lily is nowhere near as well behaved anymore out at dinner as Rowan was when she was young but it was still good. Back to our house for more cake. Cake is good!

So that's it in a nutshell - turning 40 was pretty good actually - can't wait to see what happens when I hit 50! God almighty, that will be here before I know it won't it??

Kids updates:

Rowan went to the same ENT as Lily does a couple of weeks ago. She has been having more and more trouble hearing that I finally did something about it. We started out at the pede where she failed the hearing screening so they referred us to the ENT. She did not do very good on their more advanced hearing test either and the doc determined she has fluid in her ears but it is not infected which is why they are not hurting her. We presume the fluid has been there for months so we are going back on May 7 to see if it is still there and if it is I think she is just going to go ahead and get tubes put in as well. If this is the fix to help her hear better I will be very happy.
Last night Rowan went to the dentist for the 3rd time. Same place as last time but last night they called her name and she went in all by herself! She was worried all weekend that she had not one, but four cavities - I have no idea why - so the entire time she was gone I was worried for her. She came out all smiles and I found out that without me there she underwent x-rays, a cleaning and flouride treatment! My brave girl :) And she had no cavities - of course ;)

Lily is Lily - running all over the place now, worshipping the ground her sister walks on, talking more and more and in love with Elmo...Elmo Elmo Elmo...I can't believe we have to live through this again...*HAHA* Otherwise she has been really good, no sicknesses lately - our whole house has been good for over a month now *knock wood*

Coming up - this Saturday is a big day for us - first off we get new cell phones because our contract renews and Parker and I are taking the big leap into the world of iPhones - I am so giddy about it it's stupid - thanks to Joe and Diane's birthday card my phone is half paid for - I don't know how Parker is paying for his...*HAHA* Then that afternoon we are having a Kentucky Derby Party! Seemed like a good idea and we are very much looking forward to it. The neighbourhood is all coming as well as some friends. Our criteria for the party was that all the women had to wear a hat and all the men had to wear an ascot. Rowan and I have been hard at work on our hats - can't show the final product until we debut them at the party but I can show you some of the prep work.

That's it for now....phew it was a mouthful wasn't it??

The big 4-0!

Well it's official - I am now 40. Aw whatever, just a number right? However when Rowan started the morning by wishing me Happy Birthday and then crying because I was getting older that kind of hit hard. But she has since recovered.

At work the tradition is that you supply the goodies on your birthday so I actually had breakfast catered from our food service dept. It was great, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, pastries, juice and they even threw in cupcakes free of charge. How cool was that?

Yep - I wore a tiara to work on Friday.

And a big honking medallion.

Gifts from co-workers - hardy har har.

Rowan enjoying the leftover cupcakes.

Lily enjoying them even more.

Roses from Parker.

Flowers from Angela and Enaiya.

And the funniest card ever from Angela...only Angela would do this..

Easter 2010

Glorious, glorious, GLORIOUS weather - picture perfect in fact. Plus I had 4 days off and each day was better then the previous - who could ask for more.

Friday we took the girls to get pictures done in their Easter dresses. Really - how could we not??

Friday afternoon led to car washing. Or kid washing depending who was holding the hose.

Friday night was Mom Mom and Pop Pop visiting and egg dyeing - for the record, hard boiled eggs stink and for the 4th year in a row I had to look up on the internet how to make them.

Saturday Rowan had karate and then we made a last minute run to Rice's Market and were there until it was closing time which is only 1pm. A little more running around then playing in the yard for a few hours. Lily can now climb the stairs on the swing set all by herself.

Sunday was Easter Sunday - and the egg hunt was on. Rowan woke up early (6am) and saw a trail of eggs outside the girls bedroom door so after taking a quick peek around I managed to take her back to bed and talk her into staying there - we made it until 6:55am - ugh - maybe worse than Christmas in terms of waking up time!

Sunday afternoon we went to Sharon and Bill's house for the annual Easter dinner/buffet and egg hunt.

I took Monday off and did some much needed catching up at home. Happy Birthday to my mom who's birthday was yesterday.

Coming up...I am turning *gasp* 40 this Saturday. Sweet. Mother. Of. God. I have no idea how I got this old either.
