Rowan's turn

Seems like alot of Lily lately so here are some pics of Rowan that Angela took of her and her cronies at gymnastics and then of Rowan and Enaiya at Lily's birthday party. BFFs to say the least.

Doctor Appt

Lily had her one year check up last night. All 4 of us went.

Weight 23lbs5oz - 8oz behind Rowan at the same age
Height 28 1/4 inches - 3/4 inch behind Rowan

Still in the 50th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight so still growing proportionately.

Lily got 3 shots last night including a flu shot and barely wimpered. Because Rowan was there I asked if she could get a flu shot last minute as well - and she did - and she did not scream once, or even cry! Remember the 9 month appt and the 4 year check up where Rowan screamed like bloody murder? Didn't happen this time...lesson learned, element of surprise keeps everything in check!

Lily's Birthday Party

Lily's birthday party was this past Saturday and it went pretty good! We had a good turnout, Lily was on her best behaviour as was Rowan. Lily had to take a little nap during her party but really, what diva doesn't? Her cake was beautiful and matched her invitations perfectly thanks to the local grocery store and their talents - they also made her a little cake but she was not that crazy about it - I think she did not like all the icing on the little one and preferred the cake part of the big cake but either way she did get to eat some. She got lots of cute toys and clothes and books as presents but the hit was a toy train from Auntie JoAnn that she and Rowan both cannot stop playing with or riding!
Lilies for my Lily :)

So with a subject like this how are you supposed to pick just one pose?

Lily 12 Months

Remember how at 11 months Lily was all over the place for our monthly photo shoot and I said I could not wait to see what 12 months would bring? Here you have it...

Cape May Sept 2009

Well after going camping on Labour Day weekend with JoAnn and Paul again we decided Sept was not going to be busy enough for us so we went down the shore to Cape May for a 4 day weekend the following weekend. Joe and Diane came as well and while the weather could have started out better it did not hamper our plans too badly and it ended with a beautiful sunny day.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel this year, a departure from our normal Montreal Inn stay and the room was alot bigger and the hotel had more amenities so it may be our new destination from now on.

We arrived in the rain on Friday afternoon, got settled into our room and went to get dinner - Parker, Rowan and I had gone last year to a bar called Bloody Mary's where they had a singer that sang all those songs you like to sing along too - our luck he was there again this year so we all went for a sing along good time and some dancing - Rowan and I boogied but the prize for best time dancing went to Pop Pop and Lily.

Saturday the weather was a little grey but not really raining so we went swimming at both of the hotels pools, one inside and one out...fools...Rowan and Parker lasted longer outside than Lily and I did.

Afterwards we dried off and went to Sunset Beach to finally feel some sand underfoot and do some shopping ;)

We were supposed to meet friends of Joe's at Menz' restaurant on Sunday night but because of the weather we switched our plans and met them on Saturday night instead so our Sunday would be completely free for the boardwalk in Wildwood. Diane got the girls matching dresses and how cute did they look for the occasion! So cute we used them again for family pics on the beach but these first ones are before we went to dinner. After dinner we went back to Cape May and went to the arcades for some fun and games and tickets and prizes.

Sunday was boardwalk day in Wildwood - we got ride passes and went to town - Lily went on a couple of rides but Rowan had the most rides of anyone. Parker went on a rollercoaster that left him queasy for a couple of hours and I actually went on a mini roller coaster with Rowan - that kid is a daredevil and I know Parker can't wait til she gets older to go on all those kinds of rides with him - this time her first foray into the daredevil rider that she aspires to be was the zoom phloom water ride - I think her and Parker rode that for a consecutive 10 times and came out soaked and smiling like there was no tomorrow!

Monday was our check out day and of course the brightest and sunniest day we were there. The hotel made us check out at 11am but gave us a pass to use the pools still and the changing rooms in the pool so we took full advantage and spent a few hours on the beach that day, took our family pics and went swimming, lunch at the Lobster House and another year down the shore comes to an end.
