So call us crazy or smart but we took both girls for doctor's appts last night. Rowan went for her 4 year check up and Lily went for her 9 month check up.
Rowan stats - 42 inches tall, 95th percentile....48 pounds, off the chart. Not overweight persay but way bigger than the average 4 year old. Needless to say Parker and I will have to make some changes for all of us so that Rowan can learn by example. Her blood pressure was 70/38 - if that was me or Parker we would be dead but apparently for a 4 year old it is perfectly normal. Rowan also got two shots - and she was petrified...it was alarming actually. Perhaps we should have kept the fact that she was getting shots to ourselves but I thought it best to prepare her - boy was I wrong - she screamed bloody murder as soon as the nurse came in with the needles and actually volunteered Lily to go first! When it was Rowan's turn she panicked so badly I had to take her to the bathroom so she would not have an accident. Once back from that I had to put her in a bear hold between my legs and they brought in an extra nurse to hold her arm steady. First shot went in, screaming like I have never heard before - second shot wwnt it, I thought she was going to pass out from the agony of it all. It was so very dramatic - and ridiculous. We leave the doctor's office with tears just streaming down her face - I cannot even describe how traumatic it was for her. 10 minutes later all we hear is "It doesn't hurt anymore Mommy", "I am okay now, can I play outside when we get home?" I thought Parker was going to kill her. *HAHAHAHA*
Lily stats - 25 1/4 inches long, 50th percentile, 20lbs8oz, 75th percentile...same growth rate as at her 6 month appt so all is well. Her tubes are in still (well thank God for that since they are only a week old today!) and she has no ear infection! Whoo-Hoo! Need to keep letting her learn how to move around - she is sooo close to crawling now. She got one shot and as I said, Rowan volunteered her to go first - she was a champ, didn't even cry until it was all over and then stopped as soon as I picked her up. She actually cried more watching Rowan overreact to her shots then she did over her own.

Lily 9 Months
Lily is 9 months old today - already 3/4 of her first year is over! Amazing. She got ear tubes on Wednesday after months and months of constant ear infections. She was away from us for a total of 20 minutes and came out of the anasthesia like a champ - she spent the rest of the day at home with Parker (I had to go to stupid work) and he said she slept a bit and ate and then started playing like nothing had happened to her that day! What a champ :) She currently weighs 20lbs5oz (!) and we go for her official check up on Tuesday of next week. We are really hoping this surgery will help with her equilibrium and she can start hitting milestones again as well. Already she looks like she may crawl any minute now!
New Bike and actual Birthday Pictures
Rowan invited her friend Enaiya over this past Sunday and the two of them went out back and did some gymnastics for us - Rowan needed a little help, Enaiya is a natural!
So we got Rowan a new big girl bike for her birthday. She loves it - and finally got to take it out for a spin the other night. The other girl in the video is one of our neighbours, Ashley, who was great with Rowan and helped her alot getting the turns down and learning how to start pedalling from a dead stop.
On Rowan's actual birthday it was just the 4 of us at home since it was a Tuesday but we had pizza, cheese pizza, at Rowan's request and then we surprised her with a mug with her name on it and a little cake that she got a big kick out of!

Rowan's 4th Birthday Party
Rowan does not officially turn 4 until tomorrow but we had her birthday party this past Saturday. For the first time she asked for a party with friends so we arranged to have one for her at Pump It Up in Chalfont. It is a giant inflatable place with two separate jump rooms and then a room for pizza and cake. We really could not have asked for a better place to have a party - it was private for just our group in each of the rooms and ran nice and smooth with great attention and focus from the staff there.
We also asked that people do a little something different for Rowan's birthday party - she has so much stuff and toys and was going to be getting presents from family that on her invitation we asked for "Presence Only Please" - and asked that if people wanted to give a gift to please make a donation to Alex's Lemonade Stand. I then emailed Alex's Lemonade Stand to let them know that if they started to get donations in Rowan's name that was why - I was more than thrilled to have them tell me that if her name was included in the donation they would send Rowan a note to let her know! We actually got a card from them on Friday so we were able to reinforce the concept to Rowan about there being no presents for her. At her party some people did bring presents and others just brought cards noting that a donation had been made - I was so proud of Rowan for agreeing to the whole thing and am grateful to all who made a donation and/or gave Rowan a little something too.
The only downside to the whole day was the weather - the skies opened up just around the time people would be driving to the party and it literally monsooned and flooded the roads so badly we were afraid people would not be able to get to the party - everyone made it safe and sound so for that we are thankful. When we got home we found out that our area got 5" of rain in a matter of an hour! It was crazy.
The heavy rain was over by the time the party ended so we got home okay and then Joe and Diane came back to our house and Rowan got to open their presents as well as ours - she got nice things for her kitchen and dollhouse from Joe and Diane and a new bike and helmet from Parker and I. She looks so grown up on it!

Our Baby Grows Up and Random Pics
Well it was going to happen one day and now it has...Rowan has graduated from her car seat to a booster seat. My little precious first baby can now get herself in and out of the car on her own. She looks so grown up in it!
Rowan and Lily on the porch while we were working on changing all the seats around...
And last but not least - the moment Rowan could not wait for - she played with Lily while Lily was in the tub and the next minute she was in the tub with her sister loving life!
