Parker took her to see Hotel for Dogs on Sunday. She sat all through it he said, ate tons of food and by all accounts had a great time. She got all dressed up in a fancy skirt and did her hair for her "date" with Daddy :)

Rowan and gymnastics
First let me just say that Rowan is now healthy again - thankfully! Her stomach has returned to normal and all her tests, including the giardia one, came back negative so who knows what her issue was other than the worst stomach bug of all time. Now she is eating us out of house and home as if she needs to make up for lost time! So further to her feeling well I took her to gymnastics on Saturday but this time I remembered the camera! So for your viewing pleasure...our talented and not so talented daughter...

Updates on the girls
First Rowan...
After a flurry of phone calls to her doctor on Monday awaiting results from last weeks samples we learned that everything so far was negative but are still waiting for the results of the giardia test. At our insistance for answers they ordered a urinalysis and blood work for her as well. I took yesterday morning off to take her for the labwork. Have you ever taken a 3 year old for bloodwork? She was so brave - the poor girl has the same veins as I do which makes them impossible to find! It took them a good deal of time to even find one and even they were not happy but went for it anyway - Rowan cried into my shoulder the whole time claiming it was hurting - I am sure it was because they could hardly get anything out of it and eventually it just stopped all together though but they said they got enough to run a complete chemistry. The bad news was they needed more to do a CBC but they could do a finger prick for that - through tears Rowan tells the nurse she does not want her to prick her finger but we convinced her it would not hurt as bad and then it was done. I was worried about it coagulating and sure enough when they called me last night they said that while everything was negative they could not do a potassium level because it did coagulate but that her sodium was fine and usually they go hand in hand so they were not worried about it. She did have a little protein in her urine and would like to test it again in a month but are also sure that was a result of her not eating at all and being so ill for so long.
So after getting all these results and having Joe actually move in with us yesterday afternoon so we could go to work and still keep Rowan home - Rowan gets up on Tuesday after sleeping through the night and all she wants to do yesterday is eat and does not go to the bathroom once and slept all through the night again last night and is now up again and eating with Joe. If this is the path to recovery for her I will take it. 13 days whatever this was lasted and I am done with it!
Now Lily...
She had her 6 month check up last night. Weight is 17lbs, 9.5oz - 75th percentile. Height is 25inches - 25th percentile. She will be the short one it seems. Parker actually got to go with me last night since Joe was there and I warned him ahead of time how she shrieked when she got her needles. The nurse comes in to do them, she doesn't even flinch on the first one, second one causes her to whimper, 3rd and final one causes tears that end as soon as I pick her up - figures. Dr Berg said rolling should come soon, although some kids never really do it, I think she said that to make me feel better - she can sit really well though but if she falls forward from a sit she cannot get herself out of it - all in due time I guess. We do need to give her more tummy time though so I am resolving to do that. All in all though it went fine - no concerns, she is free to start eating (which we already started anyway) and they will see her again at 9 months barring anything coming up between now and then.
So now it is time for me to reflect on the fact that my final baby is already 6 months old. What a complete and utter delight she is and has been all along. Rowan was a pretty good baby as well but I was a neurotic first time mother. Lily on the other hand is reaping the benefits of my experience and is just so calm and happy all the time it is almost unnerving! She only gets upset when she needs changing or is hungry and then calms down right away when you take care of whatever ails her. She sleeps like a champ at night just like Rowan did - for that alone Parker and I are so blessed. The next 6 months hold so many more new things for her and us. Hopefully we will see some teeth soon, rolling over, crawling and maybe even walking!

What to do what to do....
Where do I start with what is going on with Rowan?
First the good news - she went to the dentist this week. We went to a different place than the first time, this time we went to a what I would hope a real pediatric dentist office would look like - it had games and a bright kids decor and they were very friendly and soothing. Rowan was excited about going, sat in the little kid sized chair and was all happy about being there, until they tilted the chair back without warning her...big mistake...we ended up sitting with her on my lap facing me and leaning her back into the lap of the hygenist but she was pretty good about that and let them clean and fluoride her teeth and then she let the dentist look at her teeth the same way. No cavities and nothing we can do about the crossbite until her adult teeth come in and depending how that happens we may be looking at orthodontics...great. On a very cute side of this story - she was so excited about getting her own dental floss she wanted to call Nana and tell her - Nana had to call her back last night but Rowan told her all about it and then in a VERY cute moment she says "Can I talk to my cousin Abby?" and actually told Abby on the phone all about going to the dentist and about the leprechaun that got loose in her classroom at school - it was so sweet watching her talk to her cousin and she was so happy she got to do it!
Now the not so good news - she is still having stomach problems to the point where she is now throwing up occasionally and still has diarrhea. Parker is better and back to his usual self - Rowan still is not. We went to the doctor yesterday and had her checked out. She seems hydrated and her skin tone was good but she has lost almost 2lbs since we were there less than a month ago with strep throat. She has missed so much school in the past week and a half that I am now afraid that this is becoming more mental than physical because she wants to stay home with me or Parker or Pop Pop instead of going to school. We left "samples" with the doctor and took some more in last night and are awaiting results to see if there is something very serious or just a plain old nasty stomach bug that won't let her go. I just talked to the doctor and we probably will not get any results until Monday..*sighs*.

Spring has sprung
Well it had anyway - it was absolutely gorgeous here earlier this week - today is the official first day of spring and we woke up to a dusting of snow but I am assuming it is only temporary. Meanwhile we got to enjoy the outside big time on Wednesday where we introduced Lily to the swingset in our backyard.

I wave the white flag at sickness
For the THIRD time this winter a stomach bug is going through our house. Rowan woke up throwing up at 450am on Wednesday, stayed home that day, was sent home from school on Thursday with diarrhea, stayed home with Parker on Friday, he now has it as well - the two of them have gone through 3 rolls of toilet paper and an entire bottle of liquid soap in about 48 hours. UGH, UGH, DOUBLE UGH!!! We thought Rowan was feeling a bit better yesterday as she went shopping with Diane and I all day but today she is right back at square one....*sighs*...it breaks my heart.
KNOCK WOOD Lily and I have not gotten it - we had it really bad last time so I hope and pray we are being spared this time around. If I wash my hands one more time they will officially dry up like autumn leaves and fall off.
Please let spring get here soon so I can open the windows and air this place out - as it is I have the heat on and the windows cracked just to get some air in here as best I can.
On a pleasant note - Lily moved from just rice cereal to cereal and sweet potatoes this morning. She gave me the funniest, quizzical look with the first spoonful and then could not get enough of them! And so it begans - the path to good eating for our baby girl :)

Two Videos
Rowan does a cartwheel - repeatedly.
And we started Lily on rice cereal this weekend. I made it way too runny to start with and have since gotten it to a consistency that works for her but here are her first bites all the same.

Enaiya's Birthday Party
Yesterday was Enaiya's 4th Birthday party. It was supposed to be at a salon in Doylestown where they were going to treat the girls to play hair and makeup and what not. Angela, E's mom, called me on Saturday night at 1030 to tell me they had just called her and cancelled her party for noon the next day! How sh*tty is that?? To a group of 4 year old girls no less! Anyway - so after some scrambling on Angela's part she ended up having the party at her house and had a group called "Once Upon A Princess" come in and host a princess party. Belle from Beauty and the Beast came and it was a resounding success. I told Angela that you would never know she threw it all together at the last minute because it went so well. Rowan of course had to be the shy girl for the entire first half of the party wanting nothing to do with any of it because of the 8 girls in attendance, 2 did not go to daycare so she did not know them. ARGH. Anyway after threatening to just take her home a couple of times she decided if she could have her face painted like everyone else had she was ready to take part. Now mind you, everyone else got a little flower or a rainbow on their cheek - Rowan asked for the princess crown on her face...thank god it washed off very easily! *LOL*
Honestly....look at this...
