Back at work

Well so here I am at work FT again - at least I have time to update the blog now LOL*

We went to the Art Museum yesterday. Sunday is pay what you can day so we took full advantage of that and decided to give it a whirl and see how Rowan reacted to the whole thing. Lily was a dream, stayed quiet and smiley in the stroller the whole time but did look around like she was intrigued. Rowan wanted to go home after 15 minutes but once we found the modern art collection she was more interested. Actually she was most interested in running up the steps in the main hall (not the outside Rocky steps, it was too cold for that) so when we let her do that all was well. We stayed for about an hour, it was fun, something Parker and I have not done in years and with no more football it was a good time to get out of house!

My last day of leave

So this is it my last day of maternity leave - ever - *sighs* The time has gone so quickly and sometimes so slowly. I have to go back to work fulltime on Monday and part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is dreading it. Times like this make me really wish the US had better maternity rules than it does. Lily seems to be doing better on her antibiotics - I assume they are helping her ears but who knows, I do know they are totally helping her goopy eye and it looks so much better now so that is something! We brought out the exersaucer for her this week - I think she likes it what do you think? Ignore Rowan making me repeat everything - that is par for the course with her and I am pretty sure she does it on purpose to annoy me ;)

1-20-2009

A picture says a thousand words.

And she weighs...

14lbs 13oz....I guessed 15lbs so I guess Mother always does know best ;) Lily is also now 24" long. Her weight is 75th percentile for her age and her height and head circumference are 50th - same proportions as last month so all is well. This puts her 2lbs and 2" behind Rowan at the same age. I thought from the beginning that she would be my smaller girl and so far that is proving to be true however we are only 4 months into her existance.

Poor thing also has a double ear infection and so is now on antibiotics - I had no idea she had one but Dr Klebeck assured me that her ears are probably not even bothering her but that they do need to be treated. Rowan only ever had 2 ear infections so I have no idea what to do or what to look for so I am hoping that Lily's is only because she has a really bad cold now and not a sign of many more to come.

Interestingly they want me to hold off putting her on solids for 2 more months - they advise now waiting until 6 months instead of starting right away at 4 months. We started Rowan at 4 months and 6 days but I really think she was ready and needing more than formula could provide for her. Lily still seems okay on formula and I suspected that she was not ready for food yet either. Whether we will make it for another 2 months on formula alone remains to be seen but for now it is what it is.

In Rowan news she had her last gymnastics class this past Saturday and starts her second session in two weeks. We get a week off in between. She has come a long way since the disaster that was the summer session where we dropped out after 3 classes because she would not stop crying and try anything to now where I swear she almost has a cartwheel down! She can do somersaults and bridges now and is so enthusiastic about it I love it. She and Parker have also become very regular Wii Fit users! It is so fun to watch her - she tries so hard, messes it all up, and is still having the time of her life using it because she is doing it with her dad like a big girl. :)

Booo Eagles..

So seems to me if you want to get to the Super Bowl you better come out playing from the get go in the first quarter instead of waiting for the middle of the 3rd one. Sighs. At least we won the World Series this year! Lily's reaction to the whole thing:

Lily 4 months

So Lily is 4 months old today - doctor appt is tomorrow so I don't have any stats but I can at least post the pics and since we changed websites I will post all 4 months to date so we can see the growth again. The poor girl is sick today and has been all weekend with a cold - today seems to be a bit better than yesterday, hopefully tonight will be better as last night she was up every 3 hours like clockwork - all night long - ugh.

A little video

Outsmarted by a 3 1/2 year old

So you know you are in trouble when....this weekend Rowan was on me like white on rice, every time I left the room she came looking for me, if she could not find me she called "Mommy? Mommy? Mommy?" a hundred times. Now I admit I waited a long time, too long, to have the privelege of being called Mommy and I longed for the day when I would hear it for the first time...now, sheesh, I must have heard "Mommy?" approximately 13,934 times on Saturday to the point where I finally said to her "Stop saying my name for 5 minutes...PLEASE!"...it gets all quiet - she goes in the living room to play, I am in the dining room and in a little voice I hear "Katrina?"

Off and running

Well 4 days into the new year and so far........ On New Year's Eve Parker was out running errands with Rowan when I get a phone call to get Lily in the car and meet him at the service center for his car. It was incredibly windy that day and a HUGE plastic sheeting thing blew under his car and wrapped itself all around his driveshaft - he has 4wd - this is a BAD thing and now requires replacing the entire driveshaft and puts his car in the shop since then and for at least another week while they wait for the part. Lovely eh? Thankfully Diane agreed to lend Parker her car for the week and they came down yesterday to drop it off and then together but in separate cars we went to Aunt Janice's for a little family get together.

New Years 2008 --> 2009

Happy New Year!

Another year come and gone and a new one starts - full of fresh ideas and plans and dreams. If you had told me a year ago today that a year from now I would have two daughters I would never have believed you. What a fabulous year 2008 was in that respect and what great new adventures both Lily and Rowan will bring us in 2009 I am sure.

Last night JoAnn and Paul came over like they normally do to ring in the New Year with us. Last year Paul brought a whole mess of crab legs for us to feast on. This year JoAnn and I left the planning to Parker and Paul and I think we may have to do that again in the future because in an attempt to top last year Paul walked through our door this year with 3 lobsters for Parker, Paul and I and a giant King Crab leg for JoAnn AS WELL as 4 Filet Mignons that I have to give Parker his props on, he grilled them perfectly, coleslaw and cannolis. To say we ate like kings and queens would be a complete understatement.
